SURFACE TREATMENT

Surface Treatment

Metal surface treatment is often accompanied by the demand for casting and machining. There are many methods of surface treatment. Commonly used are spraying, painting, chromium plating, nickel plating, blackening, polishing, electrophoresis and so on. Matson metal can provide customers with various surface treatment services.

The surface film used in chemical conversion coating is formed by the non electrolysis chemical reaction between the metal surface and the solution. They are adherent inorganic crystalline or amorphous films. For the metal surface treatment forming protective film, it is necessary to convert the base metal into one of the components with less corrosion reaction than the original metal surface.

Surface Treatment -- Black Anodize

Anodize blackening process is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts.

The process is called anodizing because the part to be treated forms the anode electrode of an electrical circuit. Anodizing increases resistance to corrosion and wear, and provides better adhesion for paint primers and glues than do bare metal. Anodic films can also be used for a number of cosmetic effects, either with thick porous coatings that can absorb dyes or with thin transparent coatings that add interference effects to reflected light.

Surface Treatment--Powder Coating

Powder coating is a type of coating which whidely used in metal surface treatment. It is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. it is widely used in household appliances, aluminum extrusions, drum hardware, and automobile and bicycle parts.
